Building Connection, Commitment and Change

INDIA November 2010

Journey on the Community Leadership Program with facilitators Mike Dendle and Ingrid Burkett from the Centre for Social Response and the International Association of Community Development.

Closing date for this program 27th August 2010 (late entrants accepted if space available)

Our Community Leadership Program (CLP) was originally an initiative of Oxfam Australia and is this year held in conjunction with IACD and managed by the Centre for Social Response.  It is a unique journey to the heart of aid and development work. This will be a journey to remember and treasure and perhaps the beginning of seeing the world and others differently.

With over 15 years experience in programs dealing with community development, travel and learning, the facilitators will ease your entry into the country and the communities & villages we visit. Together with our local partners, a mixed group of participants from around the world will travel to experience first-hand how economically poor and marginalised people are organising themselves to overcome poverty and injustice.

Small voluntary community organisations in developing countries are creating change and hope in the lives of many people. As we visit these organisations and villages we will learn from their experience and maybe use this experience on our return home.

The Program is not designed to train people for overseas work nor to equip people for work on development projects. What it will do is to give people an effective analysis and deeper understanding of community mobilising and community building techniques in real life settings. If you are a community development worker or practitioner, this program with IACD will increase your skills.
